State Road 60 Ramp to Southbound I-275 (completed August 2012)
Project Description
Financial Project Number: 429092-1-52-01
Project Limits: SR 60 ramp just onto southbound I-275
Estimated Construction Cost: $876,301
Contractor: Ajax Paving Industries of Florida LLC
Start Date: February 8, 2012
Completed: August 25, 2012
About this Project
This project modified the State Road 60 entrance ramps to southbound Interstate 275 (onto the Howard Frankland Bridge), as well as improved drainage along the eastbound entrance ramp.
The merge conditions where the eastbound and westbound State Road 60 entrance ramps meet were improved. Previously, westbound traffic merged to the right into the traffic coming from eastbound State Road 60. This was changed to allow the westbound traffic to enter I-275 in its own lane (becoming lane 3 approaching the Howard Frankland Bridge). Eastbound traffic now merges left into lane 4 of the Howard Frankland Bridge.
Drainage was improved to eliminate water near a retaining wall from running across the eastbound entrance ramp.
Traffic Flow
There was daytime work, but the construction plans were designed so that all mainline travel lanes and ramps were open during peak traffic hours.
Night Work
In order to maintain the construction schedule, and to minimize the impact to the traveling public, lane closures and much of the construction work were done during nighttime hours.
Lane Closure Hours were
I-275: midnight (12 a.m.) to 6 a.m.
Ramps: 10 p.m. to 6 a.m.
