Project Description
Financial Project Number: 427173
Project Limits: south of Fowler Avenue to Fowler Avenue
Project Length: Less than one mile
Estimated Construction Cost: $1.9 million

About this Project
The Florida Department of Transportation's (FDOT) contractor widened the northbound I-275 exit ramp to Fowler Avenue.
The final traffic pattern looks like this: On northbound I-275 approaching Fowler Avenue, there are now four lanes. The two left lanes are through-lanes. The next lane is a through/exit lane and the right lane is an exit-only lane. At the gore (the striped area between the ramp and the mainline lanes), I-275 remains as before construction, with three through-lanes. The ramp now has two lanes, an increase from the previous one lane.
Further down the ramp, there are now four lanes: the inside lane is a left turn only, the next a left/right, and the two outside lanes are right-only. All turn movements are controlled by traffic signals.
Traffic Flow
The construction phasing was designed so that all existing lanes of traffic and interchange ramps remained open during peak traffic hours.
Night Work
In order to maintain the construction schedule, and to minimize the impact to the traveling public, lane closures and some construction work were done during nighttime hours.
Lane Closure Hours
Mainline I-275: 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
Exit ramp: 12 a.m. (midnight) to 6 a.m.
Southbound I-275 exit to westbound SR 60 may be closed at night
