Financial Project Number: 258661-1-52-01
Project Limits: south of Progress Blvd. to north of State Road 60
Project Length: 4.2 miles
Construction Cost: $7.9 million
Contractor: Pepper Contracting Services, Inc.
Start Date: June 2, 2010
Completed: November 30, 2011
About this Project
The Florida Department of Transportation's (FDOT) contractor rehabilitated the existing concrete pavement on northbound and southbound I-75, including three interchanges: U.S. Highway 301, Selmon Expressway (SR 618), and SR 60. It also included all ramps within the project limits.
Most of the work was done during night operations to minimize impacts to the motoring public. However, rehabilitation of a number of one-lane ramps required extended weekend closures of each ramp. Alternate routes (detours) were provided whenever one of these ramps was closed.
Traffic Flow
The construction was designed so that all existing lanes of traffic were maintained on I-75 during peak traffic hours.
Night Work
In order to maintain the construction schedule and to minimize the impact to the public, it was necessary for the contractor to work at night. Lane closures and detours were used during different phases of the project.
Lane Closure Hours
9 p.m. to 6 a.m.*
* Extended weekend ramp closures were needed at times from 11 p.m. on Fridays to 5 a.m. on Mondays.
