Portion of Frontage Road closed for extended period

1/12/2007 - Tampa Airport Interchanges (SR 60)

TAMPA -- Frontage Road, on the east side of State Road 60/Memorial Highway, closed January 9 for construction between Cypress Street and Laurel Street. This eliminates Frontage Road as a through-street between Cypress Street and Spruce Street. The section of Frontage Road between Cypress and Laurel will be closed about two years, likely into early 2009.

The alternate route is to use O'Brien Street, which is one block east. Traffic signals have been activated at the O'Brien Street intersections at Cypress Street and Spruce Street. Motorists should be alert that the intersection of O'Brien Street and Laurel Street is a four-way stop.

The median on Spruce Street at Frontage Road has been closed, therefore only allowing movements to and from eastbound Spruce Street at the Frontage Road intersection.
