About this Project
The Florida Department of Transportation's (FDOT) contractor constructed a new ramp/bridge from northbound Interstate 275 to westbound County Road 296 (118th Avenue). This also included constructing a new bridge for westbound CR 296 over eastbound 118th Avenue, constructing a new bridge over Roosevelt Boulevard, and widening a bridge over I-275.

This project also featured milling and resurfacing of roadways, roadway widening, drainage and lighting improvements, traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, and intelligent transportation system components.

The new connection opened to traffic on February 4, 2011.

Previously, northbound I-275 motorists wanting to travel to westbound CR 296 had to merge with northbound Roosevelt Boulevard traffic, then merge to the left lane and make a left turn onto 28th St. North, then make a right turn onto CR 296.

With the opening on February 4, 2011, northbound I-275 motorists are now able to drive non-stop on the newly constructed roadway and bridges over Roosevelt Boulevard, 28th Street North and eastbound 118th Avenue and then merge with westbound CR 296.

Improvement highlights for this project included:

  • New non-stop connection from northbound I-275 to westbound County Road 296.
  • Widened the northbound I-275 ramp and bridge to Roosevelt Boulevard.
  • Improved lighting.
  • Improved drainage.

Lane Closure Hours were:
* Mainline I-275 and ramps: 8 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
