About this Project
The Florida Department of Transportation's contractor made improvements to create additional right turn lanes on the ramp from eastbound Interstate I-4 onto southbound Thonotosassa Road (S.R. 566). A traffic signal was installed at the Thonotosassa Road intersection with the eastbound I-4 exit ramp and Thonotosassa Road was resurfaced from Townsgate Court to just north of I-4. Sidewalks were also built on both sides of Thonotosassa Road.
The completed project results in two right turn lanes on the eastbound I-4 exit-ramp onto southbound Thonotosassa Road.
The construction phasing was designed so that all existing lanes of traffic were open on I-4 and Thonotosassa Road during peak traffic hours and major special events.
In order to maintain the construction schedule and to minimize the impact to the traveling public, lane closures were used during nighttime hours as needed.
