Southbound I-275 shifted to new lanes -- what drivers need to know

Tampa, FL -- Southbound I-275 was shifted to a new alignment beginning in downtown Tampa on March 28.

Drivers are now using three of four new lanes on southbound I-275 from the Hillsborough River (near downtown/Ashley Drive) to west of West Shore Boulevard.

Here are the key points for drivers using this new alignment of southbound I-275:

1) All exit and entrance ramps are now on the right side (enter to and exit from the right lane).

2) Four new exit points are in close succession:

  • Exit 41B to Himes Avenue; then

  • Exit 41A to Dale Mabry Highway; then

  • Exit 40B to Lois Avenue; then

  • Exit 40A to West Shore Boulevard.

  • 3) The southbound I-275 exit ramp to West Shore Boulevard (Exit 40A) has been reopened to traffic.
